So at Frank’s show last night I asked him about the first time he wore makeup. (A million years ago, when MCR was on VMA virgins, the interviewer asked them that and both Gerard and Frank said they had weird stories but only Gerard’s was told) Frank said that when he was younger he and his cousin were at his Grandmother’s house. They were in her room where all her makeup was and they put it all over their faces. He then took a nail file and rubbed it on the end of his nose enough to cause a scab. His Grandmother found them and made him go tell his Grandfather what had happened. His Grandfather laughed and asked him if he had rubbed a nail file on his nose and he told him he had. His Grandfather then told him that he had done the same thing when he was his age. That is seriously the cutest thing I have ever heard.

Creative way of saving camels from getting run over
my favourite things about this video:
1) the amount of time that went into considering this approach, which is a resounding 0.00 seconds
2) the baby’s screm - yes it’s sad bc the poor lil guy is scared but the way his yells for momma hitch with the guy’s running have me lmao ngl
3) the guy either had the incredible good fortune or the foresight to put the baby between himself and momma so he could make a break for it. it was too quick. Too deliberate and almost instinctive. He has done this before.
4) the victory skips and turban twirling.
10/10 but please for the love of god there has to be a better way camels kick people to death
The Aurora Tree : Yes, but can your tree do this? Pictured is a visual coincidence between the dark branches of a nearby tree and bright glow of a distant aurora. The beauty of the aurora – combined with how it seemed to mimic a tree right nearby – mesmerized the photographer to such a degree that he momentarily forgot to take pictures. When viewed at the right angle, it seemed that this tree had aurora for leaves. Fortunately, before the aurora morphed into a different overall shape, he came to his senses and capture the awe-inspiring momentary coincidence. Typically triggered by solar explosions, aurora are caused by high energy electrons impacting the Earth’s atmosphere around 150 kilometers up. The unusual Earth-sky collaboration was witnessed in March of 2017 in Iceland. via NASA
Gerard Way has made an appearance on the Apple Music radio show Essentials, talking through My Chemical Romance’s iconic album ‘The Black Parade’.
Taking us through the record step by step, it’s an intimate and fascinating look into the intricacies of an album that continues to inspire and delight 15 years later.
When asked to sum up what his takeaways from the record are a decade and a half later, how it feels for people to still be discovering it and what he feels its message is:
“The longer the album was out, the more and more it gained importance. i noticed over the years that people started to look back at their period of music and that era and ‘The Black Parade’ always comes up as one of the records of that era. But that’s been the crazy thing to see. Even the world that is in the record emerge through people’s art and writing into this entire universe. It’s been amazing to see the album regarded in the way it is today.
I feel like originally was a kind of warning. it felt like a display of organs that you reach in deep to and pull out for everything to take a look at. It’s exciting that people are discovering that again. But what’s the message? Stay alive. Live your life. Be kind. Don’t be so hard on yourself.”
He also chatted a bit about the band’s upcoming world tour that has been rescheduled to 2022, and what to expect:
“When we thought about this tour and getting back together and doing it again, the idea was to simply reintroduce ourselves to the world and an audience. Everybody in the band thought that the best way to do that was to be ourselves and as straight as possible in terms of what you’re getting up there. I felt the most important thing in people seeing us is to go to a rock concert and have a very really authentic experience. The kind of situation you would see at the best rock shows where you really didn’t know what was going to happen. We rehearsed the music at times, but aside from a couple of cues that we had to do every night during ‘The Black Parade’, we didn’t know what was going to happen. I didn’t know if I was going to be so struck with emotion that I would be convulsing on the ground. I didn’t know if Frank was going to tackle me. We really went into the unknown because we didn’t have a plan because the plan was to play our hearts out.”
